FAQs

1. How do I submit my child’s drawing?

We know that selecting one design from all your child’s beautiful artwork will be difficult so our designers are here to help!

If you’ve already chosen the drawing simply upload a clear photograph of it using the “Upload Now” button on the product page. You'll get an approval email within 48 hours!

If you know you want a Sprout product but aren’t quite sure which drawing to select use the “Upload Later” selection. Your assigned engineer will reach out via email upon checkout to assist you in selecting the perfect drawing for your special piece!

2. What are the guidelines for selecting a drawing?

For best results submit a children’s drawing using marker or pen with distinct lines. Simple shapes such as hearts, stars, and flowers are very popular. Animals and people make for a more unique piece. Limit the number of animals and people to one per pendant, although some exceptions can be made.

Some drawing features, such as eyes and mouth locations, may be altered slightly for production purposes. Each drawing feature must be connected to another feature. All products are created at our discretion.

For drawing inspiration visit our instagram page @sproutdesignlab. If you have any questions regarding a drawing selection please contact us at hello@sproutdesignlab.com.

FUN FACT: There hasn't been a single drawing we haven't been able to turn into jewelry!

3. Do you only create single pendant custom necklaces?

Our launch collection is the single pendant necklace. Our design engineers are currently working on a multi-pendant necklace. Future collections will be released quarterly and will include single pendant bracelets, charm bracelets, earrings, and rings.

We haven’t forgotten about the dads! Our long term goal is to release a men’s collection. This will include children’s drawings turned into keychains, pins, and cufflinks perfect for Father’s Day.

4. How long will it take for me to receive my purchase?

Each order is highly customized and takes 2-3 weeks to be custom 3D designed, 3D printed, metal cast and polished. Once your jewelry is produced and packaged a shipping confirmation is sent via email that includes your order tracking number. Please note the production period will begin once the drawing has been received and approved.

5. Will I get updates throughout the design process?

Yes! You can easily track your design through each stage of the production progress on our website! See the “Track Order” tab and simply enter your email and confirmation number. If you have any questions please email us hello@sproutdesignlab.com

6. What is your jewelry made from and how can I ensure that my jewelry stays in top condition?

Our jewelry collections are currently available in Sterling Silver, 14K Gold, and Platinum.

Please refer to the following tips to ensure that your pieces remain in top condition:

Store your jewelry separately. Keep your jewelry in a closed box or it's own bag away from other jewelry, especially jewelry made with different colors of metal. Different metals can react and cause each other to oxidize, fade, tarnish, or scratch.

Remove during the following activities: Showering, bathing, or washing your hands, exercising (salt in sweat affects plating), applying perfume, lotions, oils etc, sleeping, swimming (especially in chlorine), cleaning with harsh chemicals, sauna or high humidity/extreme heat conditions.

Cleaning Sterling Silver & 14K Gold:

Sterling Silver can be cleaned using a sterling silver cloth or sterling silver cleaning solution.

While 14k gold will not tarnish or fade, it can accumulate dirt. Occasionally rub a soft cloth over your gold jewelry to help increase shine. 14k Gold jewelry can be cleaned every few months using mild detergent and warm water. Soak the piece in the solution for up to three hours, rub with a cloth or brush to remove any dirt, then rinse clean with warm water, and dry with a soft cloth.

7. What is your process for creating each one of a kind piece?

We are able to bring your children’s drawings to life because of the extraordinary advances in 3D printing. After a review of the selected drawing our engineers begin their design process. They bring the 2D drawing to life by manipulating lines and shapes to create the 3D CAD model rendering.

Our 3D printing process starts by first printing the castable model in resin. This model is then used to create a mold. This mold is an exact negative of your design. Liquid metal is poured into this mold to create your custom metal piece. Once cooled post-processing begins. This includes plating if required and polishing to perfection.

Each of our products come with a paper print of the original children’s drawing. Our graphic designers use adobe illustrator to enhance the drawing and eliminate any background features. This brings our customers a lot of joy to do a side by side comparison between the jewelry piece and the drawing!

Your custom jewelry is carefully inspected, packaged, and shipped in our unique packaging. This includes a glass jewelry dish to house your jewelry when not being worn.

8. Can I reorder a previously designed piece for friends and family?

Of course! Either upload the same children’s drawing or at checkout add in the Cart Notes the original purchaser’s name and a description of the drawing. Upon checkout our team will then reach out to confirm and process your order.

9. What is your return policy?
